Pupils and staff at Feltonfleet School ran, hopped and crawled their way through the distance of a half marathon in aid of Sport Relief.

Dressed in a sea of red outfits, pupils from the nursery through to year 8 pulled on their trainers and joined in with the Sport Relief mile to help raise more than £10,000 for the charity.

The mile could be completed in all sorts of ways and the course was completed 13 times by two teachers, Richard Alexander and Neil Kumar.

Sarah Bray, year 2 teacher and charity co-ordinator for the school, said: “We always throw ourselves into these days at Feltonfleet, but we have been blown away by this year’s total.

“I think this is our best charity day ever and it’s wonderful to think that we have contributed to the £53m raised nationally.”

With staff and pupils donating to dress up, a sell-out donut sale at break-time and sponsorship for the mile, the school raised more than £10,400, with the money split between Sport Relief and the schools nominated charities; the Friends of the Children of Tanzania and the Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice.
