HAMPTON and Richmond boss Alan Devonshire praised the contribution of his recent signing Ryan Lake in the Beavers' 3-1 away win at Windsor & Eton, writes Jason Walker.

The former Ashford Town striker, one of two new signings along with Matt Seedel, came off the bench at half-time and scored with his first touch to level the score at 1-1.

Devonshire said: "Ryan has impressed me since he joined."

Hampton came close to an early lead when Windsor defender Will Dunlop almost netted an own goal while attempting a clearance during a frantic goal mouth scramble.

The RoyalsT took the lead against the run of play after 22 minutes through Alan Wallace, so at half-time Devonshire decided to give Lake his second Hampton appearance.

The change paid off three minutes after the break, as Lake met an Elliot Godfrey cross to tap in from three yards out.

The Beavers took the lead 10 minutes later, when Alan Inns headed into the top corner from a long Dean Wells throw.

Defender Rob Paris fired in their third goal with 12 minutes left to complete the comeback.

Devonshire said: "We did ever so well. We were losing at half-time, so made a few tactical changes and a substitution, and in the second half had a good performance.

"We have won four and lost two of our last six games and I'd take that again. We just take one game at a time."

The Beavers have plenty of incentive to beat Worthing at home on Saturday.

"We are nine points clear of Worthing and if we beat them on Saturday they will be out of it," said Devonshire.

The Middlesex Senior Cup semi-final with Northwood, postponed this week because of a waterlogged pitch, will be played next Tuesday (7.45pm).
