LEYTONSTONE: Whipps murder victim named

Police have named a man stabbed to death on the grounds of Whipps Cross Hospital.

Shong Ping Zheng, of Palmerston Road, Walthamstow, was slashed repeatedly in the neck last Monday (April 21).

Wei Ma, of no fixed abode, appeared at Waltham Forest Magistrates Court charged with his murder.

The 36-year-old was remanded in custody until Tuesday, August 5, when he will appear at the Old Bailey.

Ma was arrested in Leytonstone High Road and was taken to Chingford Police Station on Friday, April 25.

Passing hospital staff tried to save Mr Zheng but he died from his injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
