PI's death: Five men remanded in custody

Four men accused of murdering private investigator Daniel Morgan 21 years ago have been remanded in custody.

Mr Morgan, 37, was found with an axe embedded in his head in the car park of the Golden Lion pub in Sydenham Road, Sydenham, on March 10, 1987.

James Cook, aged 53, a builder from Tadworth in Surrey, and William Rees, aged 53, a businessman from Weybridge in Surrey, have been charged with murder.

Brothers Gary Vian, aged 47, of no fixed address, and Glenn Vian, aged 49, from Croydon, are also charged with Mr Morgan's murder.

Another man, barman Sidney Fillery, aged 61, from Great Yarmouth, has been charged with perverting the course of justice. He has also been remanded in custody.

All five men appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on April 24 and are due to appear at the Old Bailey on July 31.
