Streatham pair charged with people trafficking

Two Streatham women have been charged with people trafficking, prostitution and money laundering following police raids on Saturday.

Cuttima Khongpong and Kaewbenjarkarn Phanusak of Howland House, Leigham Avenue, have both been charged with conspiracy to traffic women within the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation, conspiracy to control prostitution for gain and money laundering.

Khongpong and Phanusak will appear in custody in City of Westminster Magistrates' Court this morning with seven others facing the same charges following the Operation Gib raids over the weekend.

Police swooped on more than a dozen homes across London and Surrey during the operation which saw 30 women taken to a specialist centre staffed with interpreters, support and health workers.
