LEYTONSTONE: Pensioner to stand trial for grandmother murder
A pensioner is to stand trial at the Old Bailey accused of the murder of a grandmother found strangled in her home.
Christopher Bryne, 71, of Ranelagh Road, Leytonstone, is charged with murdering Khalifa Ali, 68, in her home in Ranelagh Road on Saturday, March 29.
Byrne will stand trial at the Old Bailey on July 8. He appeared at Waltham Forest Magistrates Court on March 29, where he was remanded in custody.
A post mortem revealed that Mrs Ali died of strangulation. An incident room is in operation in Barking under Det Insp Philip Howarth. Anybody with information should call 8345 3985.
