A Tottenham man has been sentenced to five years after causing a man to crash his car after shooting at him.

Hasan Dogan, 26, approached his victim, a 22-year-old man, in Walton Road, Tottenham last August and pointed the handgun at him while swearing and shouting.

The victim tried to escape in his vehicle, but Dogan and his associates blocked his escape.

Dogan fired the gun several times at the victim, causing him to fear for his life and crash his car in his panic to escape. The victim managed to escape and hide until police arrived following reports of shots being fired.

He was arrested and charged shortly after and was remanded in custody before appearing at the Old Bailey on March 4.

He was given five years in prison for possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence under the Firearms Act.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jonathan Rowland of Haringey CID, said: "The outcome of this case demonstrates that the Metropolitan Police will not tolerate gun crime. We will continue to do everything in our power to bring violent offenders to justice.

"Gun-enabled crime is down 12 per cent in Haringey. "If you know anyone who is illegally supplying real or imitation firearms we want to hear from you. Please contact the police or Crimestoppers anonymously."
