Gang ‘is giving Somalians a bad name’

A SOMALIAN resident has pleaded with a notorious gang to stop giving his community a bad name.

People have been left afraid to "walk down the street at night", because the notorious Woolwich Manz gang "intimidate" them and hang around on street corners.

Now Fitz Hersi is urging the gang, which is made up of young Somalians, to "respect the order of law" of the country they now live in.

The Woolwich Manz made the headlines recently when they were linked to the murder of Bradford PC Sharon Beshinevsky.

Mr Hersi, 37, says the gang consists of about 20 members of the Somali community.

He claims they hang around in Angelsea Road, Woolwich, and on other nearby street corners and intimidate residents.

The father-of-five also fears his fellow countrymen are responsible for a spate of thefts and assaults in the area.

He said: "I'm Somalian and proud of it but these people give our community a bad name.

"We have come here to live our lives but this means we have got to respect the order of law in this country."

Mr Hersi says other Somalian residents share his view but are too scared to speak out.

He also claims he has lodged a number of complaints with police about the gang and feels they could do more.

Mr Hersi added: "We're always asking the police to take action but they don't do anything.

"People are scared to walk down the street at night. I'm concerned for people's safety and it gives the area a bad image."

Police say anyone with information on the gang or crime in the area should call the town centre safer neighbourhood team on 07951 347084.

This set of comments is evidence of the level to which UK society has sunk. These are extremist points made by semi-literate hotheads high on hormones or something else. Hardly any of the people trying to express their views can write properly.

I fear that unless the parents of these educationally sub-normal individuals get a grip on their sons and daughters, their futures appear to hold nothing other than violence,ignorance, poverty, prison, and despair.

PARENTS OF ALL GANG-KIDS OF ALL RACES - ACT NOW TO HELP YOUR CHILDREN!

If you don't, then please refrain from appearing on TV as a weeping mother or father claiming that 'Little Jimmy was such a good boy I don't know how this could have happened'.

It's up to you to make a difference by setting an example of good and reliable behaviour. You could start by telling your kid that he doesn't need to wear a hoodie when the sun is shining, because it makes him look sub-normal.

A message to all the people who have made comments on here purporting to be from gangs and suchlike, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You are only making the place you live in more uninhabitable. Grafittiing outside of your own doorsteps is akin to **** on you own doorsteps. Society does not take you seriously and they won't do until you have some self respect. There is no honour in gang life, and crime does not pay. Just think yourselves fortunate that you are not living on the Ferrier Estate.

Then you won't end up being envious of the normal people doing something succesful with their lives, and resort to destroying their lives as well.Honestly how far are you ever gonna get in life if you deal and steal? You lot make me laugh - I lived in Woolwich 15years ago and there was none of this, it was tough,propably a lot tougher than it is now, we used to have a punch up or two but never needed to use knives and guns as we wasn't scared of a slap if needed. A few of my pals still live around that manor and i am so tempted to give them a call and land a couple on your dirty little chins.
Do yourselves a favour and get yourself a job, may be McDonalds cleaning but at least it will stop you playing with your BB guns

Somalian immigrants need to be integrated with other segments of society, rather than sticking in there own gangs. That is where the root of the problem lies. They feel alienated from mainstream society. Whats a shame is that i regularly see the elder generations chewing chadd-if the elders are in such a state you cant blame the minors for behaving the way they do. A lack of education and unemployment within the somalian community seems to be another prevailing isssue which needs to be addressed by the local councils. I also concur with an earlier comment about a lack of social clubs for these somalian youngsters- the government could perhaps take note considering these minors have no education going for them, and need to expend there energies in some healthy capacity for them to remain sane and orderly . Morever the parents are guilty for not showing these youths the right path and who I quite oftenly see turning a blind eye to the somalian youth and not taking an active interest in installing a set of morals and values.

These somalis that you is exactly what has bcome of my friends in a short space of a few years it seems only me and a couple others of the group broke away frm this street life, i mean one of my frends are serving a sentence in feltham for dealing drugs. there was a time when i was doing this sort of stuff until i realised that it takes you no where and one of the main things is that they never consider the consequences and the lack of self belief.

I would like to comment on this matter, and say that most of these kids are just kids, and if kids aren't given a chance, what kind of society is this?? they come to this country without a word of English,and because they have not learn't English fast enoug, they miss out in Education, they stand out on the streets and are taught how to sell drugs, AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT DRUGS DO TO PEOPLE.

But at the end of the day parents who brought them to this country are responsible, and should protect their kids from this disaster, I agree it is very hard, but that is the challenge in life, you must fight against all odds,and not bury your heads in the sand. WAKE UP

**** all these people trying to come with theories why some of us are messed up. The environment influences our behaviour. How can u complain when u advertise violence and drugs? Do you really think some of us want to stand on the street and sale ****? We have to get paid regardless. A degree wont solve the problem nor will my parents have influence on my lifestyle. Its the fuking society! I directly blame the government! If you didn't put us in segregated areas or low-achieving schools I wont be on the street causing havoc!I aint reppin no fuking endz that pays my housing benefit...am representing me and am out there to make money!
