A WOMAN has been banned from Uxbridge town centre after a string of offences in the first anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) to be granted in Hillingdon.

Hillingdon will now be protected from the woman's behaviour after a judge granted the historic ASBO in court last Thursday, June 24.

Alexandra Wilson, 26, of Northolt, faces up to five years in prison if she breaches the order, which includes going into parts of Uxbridge town centre and Ruislip High Street.

Wilson was banned after a catalogue of anti-social behaviour across the borough, including criminal damage, public disorder offences and being drunk and disorderly, as well as being in possession of drugs.

Sergeant Fiona Clough, of the Hillingdon police anti-social behaviour team, who led the fight to get the ASBO imposed, said she was delighted with the outcome. She said: "This goes to show that things are moving in the right direction as far as ASBOs are concerned.

"ASBOs are a powerful way to impose behaviour standards on people who have total disregard for the harm their actions can cause. Hillingdon police, in partnership with the London Borough of Hillingdon, are determined to improve the quality of life for residents.

"Stopping this kind of behaviour by imposing the kind of restrictions in the ASBO will stop other residents from suffering."

She added: "This sends out a strong message that we will do everything we can to improve the quality of life for people in Hillingdon. It also sends out a warning to criminals that we will not tolerate any kind of anti-social behaviour."

Borough Commander for Hillingdon, Chief Superintendent Mark Toland, said: "I am delighted we have been successful in getting this order.

"This woman will be the first of many people whose behaviour will not be tolerated in the borough."

He added: "Any breaches of this ASBO will be rigorously enforced."

If Wilson breaches the order, which has been imposed until 2007, she faces up to five years in prison.

The ASBO prohibits Wilson from entering Uxbridge town centre as well as Ruislip High Street and some surrounding areas.

She is also banned from engaging in any conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress in Hillingdon or Harrow, and is prohibited from drinking in public places (apart from pubs outside Uxbridge and Ruislip).

Wilson was also sentenced to a curfew order for four months between the hours of 7pm and 7am.
