A specialist marine police unit has arrested five people in two days in Kingston town centre.
The Metropolitan Police’s marine support unit was patrolling the stretch of the Thames by Kingston and on Friday, November 28, when two men were arrested for suspected possession of a bladed article.
They have been bailed to return to Kingston police station.
The unit then spotted a group of six people smoking what appeared to be cannabis in Thames Side on Saturday, November 29, and three arrests were made.
Two men were arrested and cautioned for handling stolen goods after an Oyster card in another person’s name was found on them.
One youth was arrested for possession of cannabis after a search, but no further action was taken.
Acting Borough Commander Paul McGregor said the unit provided an “extra presence” along the river and would be back in the new year to provide another form of visible policing in the area.
