A teenager was attacked by a gang of up to 20 youths in West Watford.

The vicious day light attack left the 17-year-old victim with a broken jaw after he was repeatedly punched and kicked by the gang.

Just moments earlier he had been walking along Kelmscott Crescent with his friend when he was confronted by the youths He tried to run away but the gang threw him to the ground before assaulting him.

The gang then ran off towards Hagden Lane. Some are thought to have ridden off on bicycles.

The victim was taken to Watford General Hospital before being transferred to Central Middlesex Hospital where he was treated for a fractured jaw.

The incident occurred at about 6.30pm on Saturday, June 26.

The suspects are described as Asian males, all aged in their late teens.

Detective Constable Ian Ryder said: "This would appear to be an unprovoked attack that has left a young man with serious injuries."
