A commuter rushing to make a train at Ealing Broadway station was headbutted after asking a fellow passenger to hurry up.

The incident happened during the evening rush-hour when travellers waiting for a Reading-bound train were told of a platform alteration.

As a 40-year-old man from Southall walked up the footbridge steps to cross to the other platform he asked a man in front of him to speed up.

The man turned around and headbutted the victim in the face, causing a cut to his forehead.

The attacker ran from the station, while the victim was taken to hospital after being seen by paramedics.

British Transport Police (BTP) have released CCTV images of a man in distinctive orange trousers who they want to speak to about what happened on March 11.

PC Stacie Gross, investigating for BTP, said: “Who is the man in the orange trousers? That is the question I need the public’s help answering.

“I’m confident someone will recognise the man. If you know who he is, or have any further information, please get it touch.

“There is never an excuse for violence on the railway and we will always fully investigate all incidents reported to us.”

Anyone with information should contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting T/B6 of 27/05/2015. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
