An appeal for witnesses has been issued after a man was repeatedly stabbed at Barking station following a fight.

The 28-year-old victim was attacked on Tuesday (May 19) at around 10.45pm.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital with a number of stab wounds to his legs.

He has since been discharged.

Detective Inspector Chris Neeson, leading the investigation for British Transport Police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, and has not yet come forward to police, to do so as a matter of urgency.

“We believe the incident began with an altercation between three men in the booking hall, before the group moved to platform one where the assault took place.

“We treat all incidents involving knives extremely seriously and the public can be assured that we are doing all we can to find those responsible."

A train was taken out of service following the incident and examined by specialist forensic officers.
