ENFIELD: Chamberlain to be named new Mayor

Councillor Lee Chamberlain will tonight officially become the new Mayor of Enfield.

Cllr Chamberlain has been Mayor Dogan Delman's deputy for the past year and now takes up the chains for the forthcoming 12 months.

At Enfield Council's Annual General Meeting, to be held in the Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, this evening, Cllr Delman will had over his duties to Cllr Chamberlain.

He will be invited to be robed in the mayoral dress and to welcome his mayoress and the new deputy mayor and deputy mayoress.

In this traditional ceremony, new mayors introduce themselves to the council and outline their own aspirations for the year to come.

The event brings to an end the council year 2007/08 and starts the new council year of 2008/09.
