Gravesend Harvester restaurant staff threatened in attempted armed robbery

Harvester Harvester

STAFF were threatened by two men wearing balaclavas during an attempted armed robbery at the Harvester restaurant in Gravesend.

Kent Police was called at 9.05am to the restaurant, in Rochester Road, this morning (October 22) after staff reported they had been confronted by two men wearing balaclavas who threatened them.

The two men had entered the rear of the building whilst employees were taking in the morning delivery.

One of the suspects threatened them with an object, which staff have described as a gun, and ordered that a safe was opened.

The two men left empty-handed on foot and are believed to have run towards Lower Higham Road and shortly after were seen crossing Rochester Road, running towards Thong Lane.

The men are described as white, in their late teens wearing dark clothes and balaclavas.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant said: "There was an attempted robbery at around 9.30am this morning.

"Our staff who were involved are understandably shaken but fortunately they have not been harmed.

"No money was taken. We are currently helping the police with their enquiries."

Anyone with information should call Kent Police on 101, quoting reference CAD 22-0302 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
