A MURDER investigation has been launched following a double stabbing in Mottingham yesterday afternoon (October 20).

Emergency services were called to an address in Kingsley Wood Drive at 3.05pm and found two men suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The first victim, aged 24, was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The second victim, aged 20, was treated at the scene by paramedics but he was pronounced dead at 3.51pm.

A post-mortem examination is set to take place at Greenwich Mortuary at 11am today.

Next of kin have been informed but the man has not yet been formally identified.

An incident room has been opened at Lewisham Police Station and a murder investigation launched under Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command. Anybody with information that could help the investigation is asked to call the incident room on 020 8721 4961.

Detectives are keen to trace a black Volkswagen Golf, registration LV07 FXA, which they believe may be linked to the incident. Officers suspect it remains somewhere in south-east London.

A man in his 20s was arrested yesterday evening on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.
