MP visits charity shop in support of disability campaign
12:00am Sunday 21st October 2012 in News
Newly appointed Minister for Transport, Stephen Hammond, visited a charity shop this week to help highlight its campaign to get better support for disabled children and their families.
The MP for Wimbledon was at Scope in Wimbledon on Friday to support their 'keep us close' campaign which is calling on the Government to make it easier for families to get the support they need by introducing changes to the Children and Families Bill currently passing through parliament.
The charity has said families often face bureaucratic struggles and have to travel far from their homes to get the care and support they need.
Stephen Hammond, MP for Wimbledon said: "We have a fantastic opportunity through the Children and Families Bill to transform the support available for disabled children and their families and it’s important that we take the time to meet and listen to our constituents and find out their views.
"This is a great opportunity for the people of Wimbledon to have their say on a hugely important issue that is affecting thousands of families with disabled children."
