Students from Blenheim High School quizzed Epsom and Ewell's councillors and officers
Students quizzed their local representatives at an event billed as ‘speeding dating with the council’.
Pupils from Blenheim High School, in Longmead Road, spoke to councillors and officers from Epsom and Ewell Council as part of the school’s Focus on Democracy programme.
The school said the event, organised in the fun and informative style of speed dating - where each individual is quizzed for two minutes before their inquisitor moves on to get to know another person - was a chance for the students to have a genuine voice at local level.
Year 13 student, Ben Finch, said: "I gained a good understanding of how the local government works and received an insight into why certain changes occur."
A spokesman for the council’s leisure and youth team added: "The students were an absolute pleasure to work with and incredibly articulate.
"We had a great deal of feedback relating to the local issues and some of the concerns of young people in the borough."
