Richmond tops London's Duke of Edinburgh league table

Young people in Richmond are the most successful in London for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

More students have completed the award in Richmond than in any other borough across the capital.

More than double completed the award this year – a total of 696 – compared with 331 last year.

Councillor Christine Percival, cabinet member for youth services, said: “The Duke of Edinburgh Award has been running since 1956 and it’s great to see so many young people still involved and still embodying the ideals and strength of character required.

“I would like to congratulate all this year’s awardees in their successful completion of the programme and I hope that next year we see it go from strength to strength.”
