Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following an aggravated burglary in Ockham and a linked robbery at a jewellery store in Cobham.
The 47-year-old victim was at a residential property at about 9pm on Sunday, October 14, when a number of men in black and wearing balaclavas forced their way into the address.
The robbers assaulted the householder, threatened him and then pulled a pillow case over his head.
They searched the property and stole numerous items before they put the victim into his own car, a Toyota iQ and drove him to a jeweller’s in Cobham High Street.
They forced their way into window displays at the shop and were in the process of stealing jewellery when the victim escaped into the High Street and raised the alarm.
The victim was badly shaken and suffered injuries which did not require hospital treatment.
A thorough investigation is under way into these linked offences and inquiries are ongoing in and around Cobham High Street and at an address in Ockham.
Detective Chief Inspector Karen Mizzi said: “This was a very serious incident in which the suspects have threatened and held a man at a property before forcing him to a jewellery store in Cobham, where they undertook a burglary.
“I would urge anyone who may have been in the Ockham area around 9pm or in the High Street in Cobham between 10pm and 11pm to think carefully whether they have seen or heard anything unusual and to contact police as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone with details is asked to call Surrey Police on 101, quoting reference GD/12/9357. Alternatively information can be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
