Lewisham elects Forest Hill School's Jamel Higgins as Young Mayor

A 16-YEAR-OLD pupil from Forest Hill School has been elected as Lewisham's new young mayor.
Jamel Higgins bagged an impressive 1,931 votes overall, beating Conisborough College's Kojo Kankam into second place.
Overall, 9,341 youngsters cast their vote - a bumper turnout of 52.58 per cent.
Jamel said: "I appreciate all the people who voted for me and I will do my very best to represent them as young mayor. I feel great and am really excited. I can’t wait to get started."
Kojo, who just missed out with 1,857 overall votes, will become the deputy young mayor.
He said: "I'm grateful to everyone who voted for me and for all the people who supported me."
