BEXLEY'S looked after children and young people have been recognised at a special awards ceremony.
The annual event is an opportunity for the council to reward all the effort the youngsters put into achieving their 'personal best' both in and out of school during the past year.
More than 80 children were nominated for special awards at the Marriott Hotel in Bexleyheath.
Mayor of Bexley Councillor Alan Downing and Mayoress Councillor Ross Downing presented all those nominated with certificates and high street vouchers.
Winners also received a photo of themselves with the Mayor and Olympic weightlifter Zoe Smith.
Cabinet member for children's services and community safety, Councillor Katie Perrior said: "As a council we are corporate parents to these young people and - as any parent would be - I am extremely proud of the work they put in and all that they have achieved throughout the year."

How about recognition for the children who were badly looked after by foster cares in bexley. I know of several young people who are still struggling to cope with life and make sense of their traumatic experiences in bexley care. And NO. They were not young ruffians out to make trouble. They were sensitive and from good loving homes, whose parents were in a spot of bother. Get your act together Bexley, And stop putting on a front of all goodness and light.
