Forty Hall Farm is getting in the spirit of national Apple Day next week by holding a fruit-themed event.

Visitors to the farm in Forty Hill on Sunday, October 21, can take part in apple bobbing, apple tasting, as well as a longest peel competition.

The unusual event, which will run between 10am and 4pm, is to mark national Apple Day, which is held every year in the UK to celebrate local apples and orchards.

Apple advice will also be given, and people who grow apples in their garden without knowing their variety can bring them in for identification.

Morris dancers and sheep shearers will be at hand to entertain the crowds, and visitors can try their hand at wool spinning.

The event is being organised by Capel Manor College in Bullsmoor Lane, which runs the organic Forty Hall Farm.

The farm is also home to London’s only organic commercial vineyard, the Forty Hall Farm Community Vineyard as well as a community orchard project which began last year.
