Light up: Walton gets Christmas going
With autumn upon us, preparations are already under way for this year’s Christmas Festival of Light.
Walton Business Group (WBG) is working in partnership with the Heart and local artist Donagh Curwen for the event which takes place on Saturday, November 17.
Special promotions, stalls, rides and entertainment are being organised with local businesses and community groups, with funding from the WBG and its members.
Donagh Curwen is working with the creative talents of primary school pupils to make lanterns for the parade as well as preparing some spectacular large builds.
Most of the sponsorship opportunities have been snapped up, with grants secured from the RC Sherriff Trust and Elmbridge Council to keep the event fresh and entertaining for the hundreds of visitors to the town, on what has become the official launch of Christmas in Walton.
Sarah-Jane Shellard, WBG director said: “We are looking forward to celebrating the start of the 2012 festive season with the local community, kick starting a great Christmas for Walton in this special year.”
Anyone interested in being a volunteer marshal for the procession or being involved in the event should contact the WBG office on 01932 221895 or visit waltonbusinessgroup.co.uk.
