BEXLEY Village was brought to a standstill this afternoon (October 8) following a two-vehicle collision.

Emergency services were called to Bexley High Street at 1.50pm and the road was closed in both directions while they attended the scene.

The incident involved a green Vauxhall Insignia and blue Renault Clio.

London Ambulance Service treated one person at the scene for minor injuries but no one was taken to hospital.

The road was re-opened by 3.30pm but onsiderable delays were caused on all roads around Bexley Village while the two vehicles were cleared.

I witnessed the whole event. I was driving behind the Renault Clio. An unmarked Police car was pursuing the Insignia when it smashed into the Clio outside the Kings Head. The driver got out the passenger side and ran off. The police officers gave chase and appended the driver further up the road. All very dramatic

Looks like the idiot got the airbag on his face. Serves right for him if he was running away from the police and putting others lives at risk.

It would have been better if the airbag didn't go off and he face planted the steering wheel. That is 'presuming' he is guilty.

What about the innocent driver in the Clio?

NS Editor: Look forward to the report of what action. if any, is taken against the driver of the Insignia.

£200 fine perhaps, or will the CPS drop the case for lack of evidence?

As I recall, just around the corner (going towards Sidcup) there's a pedestrian crossing

Imagine if someone was on the crossing & he/she hadn't hit the Clio
