Mother setting up parent group is 'chuffed' with community donation

A woman setting up a parent support group is “amazed” that a businessman has offered to help.
Mother-of-two Lynn Saunders, 41, is renovating an empty electrical store in Crews Hill to create a support group for parents with autistic children.
Fevzi Vedat, who owns burger van Mr Magic UK in Pymmes Park, read her story in the Enfield Independent and has offered his support.
The 44-year-old, of Ordnance Road in Enfield Lock, pledged £50 to the good cause and will also donate a tea and coffee machine as well as tables and chairs.
He said: “I am trying to help her as much as I can, it is something good for the community. She is very happy, and if she is happy, then I am happy.
“I will do what I can, I have got some spare things – I am not using them so she might as well make good use of them.”
Ms Saunders is renting the former shop in Browns Garden Centre in Theobalds Park Road to help parents of children with conditions including obsessive compulsive disorder, autism, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder and dyspraxia.
She believes there is not enough in the borough to support parents, and decided to take the matter into her own hands.
When she heard about Mr Vedat’s offer, she said: “How amazing is that? That is so amazing, I am really shocked by that.
“I am really chuffed with that, I can’t believe it – it is such a good start.”
She said she will put the money aside and spend it on therapies for parents – not the cost of renovating the unit.
She is working every day to renovate the empty building and aims to open the Atlantis Spiritual Support Centre on Saturday, October 20.
Mr Vedat has been in the Enfield Independent this week because he claims Enfield Council is asking him to leave Pymmes Park to make way for a new catering company.
