Twickenham Rotary Club gives £500 to boxing club

Twickenham Rotary Club presented a £500 cheque to Twickenham Brunswick Club for Young People last month.

The cheque was received by Douglas Orchard, president of the club, and Tony Rabbetts, the lead boxing coach.

It is an Independent Voluntary Club which caters for children between the ages of eight and 21 interested in sports, computers and arts and the money will be used specifically for boxing equipment.

It was founded in 1927 and is a registered charity which is staffed by loyal volunteers, so welcomes donations such as the rotary club’s.

The money will be spent on training gloves and protective head gear for the young boxers at Twickenham Brunswick Amateur Boxing Club.

Tony Rabbetts said: “We’re very short of equipment because we are self funded so it is greatly appreciated.”
