POLICE were chasing after two suspected car thieves in Beckenham this morning, one of whom hid in a garden shed.
A Honda Jazz was stolen during a burglary at 6am around the Eltham area and police began pursuing the suspects at 9am.
The vehicle stopped at Southend Road at the junction with The Avenue, in Beckenham and two men escaped.
A police spokesman said helicopter and dog units “scrambled to the scene” with the driver detained in Foxgrove Road.
The other suspect was located by police dogs nearby hiding in a garden shed.
At around 9.14am, the Twitter feed for the Met helicopter service, @MPSinthesky, said: "India 99 have launched to assist ground units in Beckenham chasing two suspects who have decamped from a stolen car."
Both suspects were arrested for burglary and the driver was additionally arrested for failing to stop for police, both are now in custody at Bromley Police Station.
The incident caused a lot of congestion on the roads around the Southend Road area.
