Man, 21, rescued from Dartford house fire
FIREFIGHTERS rescued a 21-year-old man from a Dartford house fire in the early hours of this morning (October 3).
Kent Fire and Rescue Service received a 999 call at 12.41am to reports of a property alight in Kingsley Avenue.
Two appliances were sent to the scene but this was quickly made up to four engines as crews discovered the ground floor well alight and there were reports of people trapped.
Watch manager Vicki Brown said: "Fortunately we found three members of the family had managed to get out okay but a 21-year-old man was still upstairs so we walked him down a ladder at the rear of the property.
"Three people were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
The blaze is believed to have started in the utility room but the cause is being examined by Kent Police and fire investigators.
The whole house was damaged by smoke while half of the ground floor was destroyed by fire - the extent of the damage makes it unknown whether the house had any working smoke alarms.
Crews will be in the area over the next few days offering home safety advice to neighbouring properties.
