Jonny’s classmates bid farewell to the seven-year-old on his last day at school before he heads off to America for a life-changing operation.
Jonny Maberley, who has cerebral palsy, needed the money for an operation at St Louis Children’s Hospital in America, which has already transformed the lives of many children born with the condition but is not available on the NHS.
In April, Jonny and his parents Katie and Gareth Maberley raised the £50,000 needed for the operation, six months ahead of target.
This was thanks to the tireless work from friends and the community, co-ordinated by a parents group from Jonny’s school, Orleans Infant School.
Jonny will leave on Tuesday, October 2.
