Highways Agency officer from Gravesend killed on M25 named as John Walmsley

THE Highways Agency Officer who was killed while attending a collision on the M25 has been named as 59-year-old John Walmsley.

Mr Walmsley, from Gravesend, died after being hit by a car as he was assisting with a minor collision on the motorway on Tuesday (September 25).

In a tribute released by his family today, Mr Walmsley was described as “irreplaceable.”

It reads: “John Walmsley, our dad, was a great dad, grandad and most importantly great husband, who is irreplaceable.

“He had the affection and respect of just about everyone he come in contact with, due to his honesty and kindness with or to them.

“He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.”

Emergency services were called to the clockwise carriageway at junction five, near south Chevening, at 2:50pm but paramedics pronounced Mr Walmsley dead at the scene at 3:15pm.
