TWO buses collided in Widmore Road near Bromley North station at around 11am this morning.

It is not yet known if anyone was hurt in the crash.

Ken Davidson, head of operations for TfL London Buses, said: “At around 10.50 on Tuesday 25 September a route 320 double-deck bus, operated by Metrobus, was in collision with route 208 double deck bus, operated by Selkent on Widmore Road, near Court Street, in Bromley.”

He said there will be a full investigation into the matter.

The TfL website is no longer reporting delays in Bromley town centre as a result.

Messages posted on social networking site Twitter from @ollygroome said: “fire engines and ambulances in attendance” and “3 other ambulances just whizzed past on their way to the scene”.

Widmore Road was temporarily closed but was re-opened at 12.10 and one of the buses has been removed from the scene.

A 45-year old shopkeeper in Widmore Road who did not want to be named said she heard a loud bang at 10.45am and then saw people coming of the bus onto to stretchers.

She said: “It looked the bloke in the bus behind smashed into the other bus."

A person from the Bromley United Reformed Church who did not want to be named said one of the passengers who had been “jerked backwards” was taken into the church to sit down while waiting for the ambulance.
