Sidcup mugging of man, 69, near Birkbeck Primary School

BEXLEY police are appealing for witnesses to the assault and robbery of a 69-year-old man near Birkbeck Primary School in Sidcup on Friday (September 21).

The pensioner was walking past the school, on Alma Road, when a man stopped him and asked for directions.

He was then grabbed around the throat by the mugger and robbed of £60.

The mugger then ran off towards Station Road in Sidcup.

He is black, in his early thirties and around 5ft 4in tall with short black hair. He was wearing a thin blue waterproof coat and black trousers.

Police are asking to hear from anyone who heard a call for help or may have seen the suspect in Station Road at around 4:55pm.
