Councillor Pauline Tunnicliffe is Bromley Council's children's champion
TACKLING cyber bullying and highlighting youngsters’ achievements are just two of the jobs for Bromley’s first children’s champion.
In the role Councillor Pauline Tunnicliffe plans to work with council teams, outside agencies and young people to ensure the borough lives up to its promise to allow all children to reach their full potential.
The Orpington councillor who has previously been the mayor and developed anti-domestic violence initiatives at the council is looking forward to her new role.
She said: “I have always taken a keen interest in the achievements of our children in Bromley and I am looking forward to working closely with many different groups both across the council and externally to further enhance the opportunities for our young people into the future.”

Personally I'd like you to rethink your priorities as a Orpington Councillor and work closely with many different groups both across the council and externally to fix the shambles otherwise know as Orpington High Street.
Are you any good with a shovel?

I'm certain these clowns invent these jobs. They all sit around and "brain storm" ( thats the in term ) to come up with another boondoggle to keep their wallets ( or purses ) fat at our expense.

Bromley will never admit that the whole scheme went too far in satisfying the cravings of the anti-car lobby so it is unlikely we shall ever see any major works to make it fit for purpose again. That U-turn would be too embarrassing although they do have previous form with making it pedestrianised then in less than a year changing it back.
Not only was the whole High Street concept flawed but the quality of the work is substandard – and that is what Pauline should be concentrating on. Every raised section has failed and is falling apart. The zebra crossing stripes have worn off everywhere and if anyone were hit by a car they could discover that technically it wasn’t a zebra crossing because it was improperly marked. The half-hearted repairs attempted so far have lasted even less than the main scheme. Bromley are washing their hands of Orpington and are now looking at the same madness for Beckenham.
I want Pauline to fix Orpington and not get sidetracked into Cyber Bullying which is a national problem and completely outside the remit of local Councils.
Surely schools and parents are better placed to highlight children’s achievements? Is this really a job that the Council needs to do for us? Who did it ten years ago?
Councils need to stop expanding their role by trying to manage every aspect of people’s lives at great cost to taxpayers. Fix the roads first and if there is any money left then look at the window dressing.
