Cherry Lodge Golf Club public inquiry postponed after planning inspector taken ill

A PUBLIC inquiry into a golf club’s redevelopment plan has been postponed after the planning inspector hearing the case had to be taken to hospital.
He had been set to hear the final statement from Cherry Lodge Golf Club about why it should be allowed to build an access road to allow the redevelopment of 11 holes on the course off Jail Lane, Biggin Hill.
But instead Bromley Council staff had to call an ambulance when he became unwell on the afternoon of September 13.
He was discharged from hospital the following day.
The inquiry was called after Bromley Council rejected the road building plan in November last year.
It is not yet known when the inquiry will be concluded.
A Bromley Council spokesman said: “It was obviously a completely unexpected turn of events and we wait for news from the Planning Inspectorate so that they can outline what will happen next.
“Our thoughts are with the planning inspector and his family and we hope that he is okay and makes a full recovery.”
He added: “The council had already explained to the Inspector why the application had been roundly rejected, expressing concerns over Green Belt.
“Local residents voiced their concerns to the inspector regarding the problems of traffic in Main Road if the application was allowed.”
