Bromley Council paid out £2.2m in exit packages in the last financial year
EMPLOYEES leaving Bromley Council in the last financial year took more than £2.2m in ‘exit packages’ according to the accounts seen by the News Shopper.
The highest earning leaver – in the salary band of £250,001 to £300,000 took a £273,000 package and the next highest – in the £200,001 to £250,000 band – took £206,000.
Most of the 122 people who left the council came in the lower earning bands with 92 of them in the exit package cost band of £0 to £20k.
This band took home a total of £624,000 and the 20 people in the next highest band of £20,001 to £40,000 taking £582,000 between them.
A Bromley Council spokesman said: “These figures do not represent sums received directly by individuals but also include, for example, contributions to the pension scheme based on actuarial valuation factors as well as being influenced in some cases by age and length of service.”

Otherwise it works out every household in Bromley has just paid out another £17.60 for no benefit.
It would be good to know how many of the 122 jobs got backfilled.
