GRAVESEND has had a blooming great week after being recognised for its bedding displays and floral baskets.

It is the second time the town has been awarded the Silver Gilt Certificate by the South and South East in Bloom campaign.

More than 50 shops and businesses signed up to the scheme, which saw 420 troughs and baskets installed and maintained from July to September.

The judges were impressed by the council’s partnership with Kimberly Clark to provide water from their borehole to water the flower baskets and containers.

They were also impressed with the  bedding displays and floral baskets displayed at the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara.

Council leader Councillor John Burden said: "Once again Gravesham has connected with its community, especially the business community, to produce an award-winning performance.

"Gratifying as the award is, never forget the flowers brighten our town for everyone, resident and visitor.

"Possibly it has never been a more important year to show the place at its best."

The bedding and floral display at the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara was indeed beautiful. I was able to take some incredible pictures.
