A van and a motorcyclist crashed on the A217 this morning causing huge delays for drivers between Cheam and Banstead.

The police were called just before 8am this morning to the crash at the junction of Dorset Road, Belmont.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service with a suspected broken hand.

The van blocked the carriageway for a while and long queues of traffic built up quickly.

Motorists reported solid traffic as well as delays on surrounding routes.
