Southeastern achieves its best ever performance
SOUTHEASTERN has announced its best ever punctuality performance, following a successful summer for transport.
Of the 50,500 trains which ran over the four week period ending on Saturday (September 15), 95.5 percent called at all the booked stations and arrived within five minutes of the scheduled arrival time at their destination.
Service delivery director for Southeastern, Vince Lucas, said: "This is the best train performance ever experienced by Southeastern customers in any four week period since Public Performance Measure (PPM) records began.
"This reporting period also coincided with the Paralympic Games when we were running extra services and carrying around 100,000 more passengers a day than usual."
He added: "We’ve been working extremely hard to provide the best possible service for our passengers.
"The south east is a challenging part of the rail network; we run more than 2,000 services and carry around 570,000 passengers every weekday.
"Providing a train service of this size and scale is an enormous task involving a workforce of over 3,800 full-time employees, so we are pleased to see this best ever result.
"We will continue to work hard to maintain the highest possible standard and find further improvements for our customers."

Well done Southeastern. All you need to do is add air conditioning on your metro trains!

And Southeastern have the bare faced nerve to describe this as “successful… best train performance ever…best possible service… and …highest possible standard “
If they really believe 95% is the benchmark no wonder they never see any need to improve.
If your boss only gave you 95% of your pay, or Tesco only gave you £95 of your £100 shopping order you would be up in arms.
Southeastern manage to get away with it year after year, and con you this is good !

Put it another way - if you don't like it try driving a car Orpington to London Bridge. You're lucky if you can do it in under an hour and you wouldn't even get close to being within 5 mins of target time 95% of the time.

If 95% is acceptable when you next buy your ticket offer them 95% of the price.
Let us know how you get on.
I guess that's Southeastern's philosophy - if you don't like it go by car !

Also nearly every morning I hear an announcement at Greenhithe advising that the 7:37 to Cannon Street is delayed.

Also during the Olympics trains had been cut and some didn't even stop at their regular stations.
