Northfleet man accused of using African Juju magic to lure Nigerian women to Europe
3:19pm Monday 17th September 2012 in News By Jim Palmer
Osezua Elvis Osolasi is on trial at Canterbury Crown Court.
A NORTHFLEET man used African black magic to lure young women from Nigeria to be prostitutes in Europe, a court has heard.
A jury at Canterbury Crown Court was told on Monday (September 17) that Osezua Elvis Osolasi brought three teenagers into the UK in order to fly them into Europe for prostitution.
The girls were also sexually abused by 42-year-old Osolasi of Beaumont Drive, the court heard.
The victims were orphans from impoverished backgrounds, poorly educated, with a history of physical and sexual abuse.
Airline and bank records were shown to the jury suggesting Osolasi travelled to Europe with females using false passports - and then travelled back alone.
Jury members heard the girls were subjected to Juju rituals - traditional West African customs used superstitiously in witchcraft and as spells to enforce contracts.
The first victim, then 16, was taken to a large house before flying to the UK where she thought she would receive an education, the court heard.
Sarah Ellis, prosecuting, said: "It was a place of witchcraft, according to the victim.
"She was given a 'native port' - a mixture which looked like blood and red cloth.
"She was told to use this liquid to bathe and to tie the cloth around herself.
"A man cut some of the hair under her arms, her finger and her toe nails. He took some blood from her hand.
"She was told that if she ran away or did not pay she would die. She believed it."
The court heard she flew to England was taken to a house and sexually abused.
She was flown to Italy under a false passport but, on arrival refused to go through and sought help.
Osolasi cut another girl's chest with a razor blade to "mark her", the court heard.
The alleged victim was also told that if she broke her Juju oath she would "not have children, go mad and die".
Osolasi denies six charges of trafficking for sexual exploitation, four of rape, and one each of sexual assault, false imprisonment, sexual activity with a 14-year-old child and assault.
The trial continues.
