Dartford man loses eye after catapult attack at his home

A 31-YEAR-OLD man is due to have his eye removed after being shot in the face with a catapult outside his home in Dartford.

The assault took place on September 7 at around 8pm in Birch Place.

Two men knocked on the victim's door, confirmed the man’s name before shooting him with the catapult - hitting him in the eye causing his eyeball to split.

He was taken to Maidstone Hospital but nothing could be done to save his sight.

The two white men ran towards Hayes Road where they were seen getting into a white van.

One is described as around 5ft 8ins, of stocky build, aged in his early 20's and had dark straight short hair.

He was wearing a white polo shirt and a thick dark jacket.

The second man is described as being taller than the first, of slim build and tanned appearance, wearing a beige jacket with mousey coloured hair - wavy on top but short on sides.

It is believed the two men were seen briefly talking to a man and woman on Stone Recreation Ground a short while before the assault.

Detective Constable Roger Harris said: "A number of children were playing in the garden during the assault which has left a man with severe injuries, which will not only affect the rest of his life but will undoubtedly have a devastating impact on the rest of his family who were at the house during the assault."
