FOLLOWING the resounding success of London 2012, everyone knows what LOCOG abbreviates – but what about NOCOG?

Inspired by the world’s greatest sporting occasion in the capital, staff at the Kimberly-Clark depot in Crete Hall Road staged their own three-week Olympic Games to raise cash for local charities.

But the success behind the sporting spectacle – which raised an impressive £600 – was the firm’s devised organising committee, the Northfleet Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.

Forming eight teams, staff battled it out in activities including an egg and spoon race, a swing-ball knock-out tournament and a penalty shoot out.

Communications manager Helen Francis said: “The games were a great success with everyone getting involved and having a lot of fun.

“The real games may be over but the Olympic flame and charitable spirit is both still burning brightly in Northfleet.”

The funds raised will be split between the Demelza Children’s Hospice and the Darenth Valley Cancer Fighting Fund.
