About 20 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus fought a blaze in a flat in Streatham Hill yesterday.

Four fire engines, from West Norwood, Clapham and Tooting fire stations, were called to the burning flat on Montrell Road at 3.17pm.

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: "A small part of the flat, which is part of a converted house, is alight."

The fire was under control by 4.41pm and there were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
