A community matron is in line for Nursing Times’ nurse of the year award after surviving down to the last eight nominees for the award.
Carmel Reed, who works for Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust, was nominated for the award in recognition of her commitment and professionalism and willingness to act over and above the expectations of her role.
Jo Manley, director of operations at Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “Carmel consistently puts her patients’ needs before her own and provides the highest standard of care to her patients.”
The award recognises an individual who has gone above and beyond what is expected of them in their day-to-day role.
The winner will be announced on Wednesday, October 31, at the Nursing Times Awards 2012 at London’s Hilton Hotel.
