Schoolchildren in the borough will be heading to the cinema for free during National Schools Film Week.
The festival, which runs from Monday, October 15, to Friday, October 26, supports classroom teaching by providing a powerful experience that links directly to elements of the curriculum, supported
by an online library of resources related to individual films and more generic topics.
Ali Denmead, teacher at Cardinal Newman Catholic Primary, Hersham, said: “We studied Egypt before and watched the Prince of Egypt which was beneficial. Post-screening the students write reviews and
make posters.
“Some of the children have never been to the cinema before. It becomes an activity and sharing the whole experience with friends is exciting.”
Everyman in Walton will be showing Disney’s latest film, Brave, on Tuesday, October 23.
Teachers can book free tickets online at nationalschoolsfilmweek.org.
