A new exhibition opened at the Science Museum today to celebrate the importance and success of British manufacturing and show young people the rewarding career opportunities our industries have to offer.
Coinciding with the London Olympics, the Make it in Great Britain exhibition runs from 24th July to 9th September.
From food and drink to pharmaceuticals; from creative industries to construction, the exhibition will feature some of the most exciting Great British innovations happening today, exploring the positive impact they have on our lives.
Iconic names like McLaren, Mars, BAE and Rolls Royce are represented, with many interactive displays on show.
Business Secretary Vince Cable who opened the exhibition said he hoped the event would challenge outdated perceptions of industry and transform the image of modern manufacturing.
Ian Blatchford, Director of the Science Museum, added: “Science, technology and engineering have all been used to solve problems throughout history - from light-bulbs and televisions to inventions such as the Stephenson’s Rocket - and they’ve all gone on to contribute to British manufacturing.
"We’re hoping that as many people as possible will come and experience some of the most exciting innovations from around the UK this summer at the Science Museum.”
Entry to the exhibiton is free.
