Shorne paedophile Alan Palmer sentenced to 12 years in prison
A RAPIST has been sent to prison for 12 years for offences which include sexual abuse of children.
Alan Palmer, aged 66, of Racefield Close in Shorne, was jailed at a sentencing hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday (July 5).
He had previously pleaded guilty to two charges of rape, as well as four of indecency with a child, three of indecent assault and three of sexual assault of a child under 13.
His crimes reached as far as three decades back.
Palmer told one victim that it was “their little secret” and that she shouldn’t tell anyone about the abuse because he would “get into trouble”.
He received a combination of concurrent sentences, ranging from three to 12 years in prison.
Detective Constable Naomi Moore from the Kent Police Public Protection Unit said: “Offenders such as Palmer rely on their victims being too young to understand the seriousness of what is happening, in the hope that they won’t report the behaviour.
“In this case, Palmer is going to spend a significant amount of time in prison for his offending, and that should bring reassurance and satisfaction to his victims.”
Palmer also denied four more rape charges, six of indecency with a child, one of indecent assault and four of sexual assault – all of which were left on file.
