LITTER pickers in Penge have been busy making the streets cleaner in a day of action.
Volunteers from Penge church groups, as part of the Street Friends Scheme, spent a day picking up litter around the area.
More than 50 sacks of rubbish were collected by the 13 teams of volunteers.
Portfolio holder for the environment Councillor Colin Smith said; “This is a magnificent effort and our sincere thanks go to everyone for lending a helping hand.
“It is another example of what can be achieved through working in partnership with our dedicated groups of volunteers.”
There are currently more than 1,000 Street Friend volunteers working with the council to maintain clean and safe streets across the borough.
