A parking enforcement company has been charged with falsely stating it was approved by the British Parking Association.
Park Direct Limited, which operates in Richmond, was said to have made the claim on its website.
The company was also accused of failing to display adequate warning signs and of charging both a clamping charge and a towing or cancellation fee.
Park Direct Limited, based in Packet Boat Lane, Uxbridge, faced at Richmond Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 22, two counts of recklessly engaging in a commercial practice, one count of engaging in a commercial practice which was aggressive and three counts of engaging in advertising which is misleading.
Anthony Phillips, a director of Park Direct Limited, was also charged with three counts of engaging in advertising which is misleading.
Magistrates adjourned the case until June 26, when the company was expected to make a plea.
