There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the campaign we launched last week to get Epsom into zone 6.
Hundreds of people have signed up to the online petition on our website and many more have emailed in their reasons for supporting the campaign.
Not only will the move make travel to and from London easier and cheaper, but it promises to boost the town’s economy by attracting more shoppers.
The business community has welcomed the initiative with open arms.
Amanda Masters, business development manager at Surrey Chambers of Commerce, said: "Surrey Chambers of Commerce are fully behind the campaign to get Epsom station into zone 6.
"It is supportive of anything that can bring extra business into the town and into the borough."
And the council has also signed up to the campaign.
Chief executive Frances Rutter said: “The council fully supports this initiative.
“It makes it easier for those residents travelling to central London, who at the moment can find themselves buying both Oyster cards and regular tickets and having to hop on and off the train during their journey.”

James Tarbit: “There are stations further away from central London that are still within the zoning system. This will provide a welcome boost to the town and commuters alike.”
Alan Wood: “It is a logical thing to do – with Epsom being directly connected to three London termini, the vast improvement and upgrade of Epsom station, and the fact that there are stations further out from London than Epsom that are already in zone 6.”

Tiffany Grous: “As a student, money adds up and as UCA is so close to Epsom station it would be a huge factor effecting travel. With the new ticket machines it seems appropriate to get the Oyster tap in too when stations like Tattenham Corner and Tadworth have it with significantly fewer commuters and travellers.”
Jacqueline Cole: “Epsom is a very busy station and therefore the only reason I can see for Epsom not being in zone 6 is purely a greedy financial one.”
Andrew Hills: “It is a daft situation where Oyster cards can be used on bus services in the town but not on the train service to London. This needs to end.”
